Phoenix,
I hope you all had a great homecoming week. We now
officially enter the final stretch of our season. This week we will be going to
Layton City Park for the district championships on Wednesday. After which, the ensuing 3
Tuesdays will be the final races of the year: region, divisionals, and state.
I’ve been saying for weeks not to squander any time and I think most of you have done a good job at taking advantage of each day. May we redouble our efforts to make full use of each race.
After state we intend to host the Phoenix 5k as a tune up race before NXR. The date for that will be November 5th. I’m going to be asking each of you to help in some way, with it being my first time doing it I’ll need some help, so stay tuned for that.
Race recap
We had 12 people race this weekend, 10 up at Bob Firman and
2 down in Lone Peak. They all ran very strong races and the boys team finished 3rd out of the 24 elite team division, just one point out of 2nd. Spencer finished 4th out of the 179 runners. Aaron, Kohen, Bodie, Izaac, Tyler, and Jacob rounded out our 7. Henry and Ethan ran in an earlier race and both had tremendous improvements. Alexis finished in 28th place. She started out in 42 through the first 1k, but steadily moved up like she does to have a great finish. Taylor and Ella went down to Lone Peak and both had seasonal best times on the year. Pretty awesome. It sets us up for an exciting finish to the season.
For most of you who had the week off from racing, your time is coming my friends. We'll have some very great performances and I'm confident that the week of training will be beneficial for you, just as I'm confident that the races will help those who participated there.

Wednesday’s Race
If you cannot attend the race on Wednesday please let me
know so I don’t enter you. I do not yet know how many varsity runners will be
entered, so stay tuned for those entries. We may change things up a bit on the
boys varsity team to allow for some recovery for those who raced in Idaho on
Saturday, but that doesn't mean all 12 people who raced will sit out, most likely only a few.

Monday – 3:15 at the Regional Park
Tuesday – class day at FHS
Wednesday – race at Layton City, excused time tbd.
Thursday – class day at FHS
Friday – 3:15 at the Regional Park
