November 29th - December 4th - Nationals!!

For everyone not going to Alabama, the only info you need is to confirm you are planning on going to the banquet or not, and to continue to enjoy the break. If you would like to start some biking or swimming or some other cross training exercise (that is not running) you may do so in the middle of the week but you can just enjoy another week off and be ready to start back up next Monday. If you haven't RSVP'd to the banquet yet, please do so here: 2021 Farmington XC Banquet Sign Up

For those going to Alabama the rest of the info is for you. Please read the following info so you know what to expect or to pack. Our flight leaves SLC on Thursday at 12:15 PM. Please plan on getting to the airport by 10:15 AM. Go for a run that morning and either have your family drop you off or carpool to get there. We will meet you at the airport at around 10:15 AM. As of right now negative Covid tests are not required to fly but you will need a mask in the airport and on the flight. Please try to pack all your things in a carry on bag. If you want to check a bag it'll cost $30, but if you can keep it all on a carry on we won't have to worry about losing it or anything like that so have a carry on bag and then a backpack you can slide under the seat in front of you. Pack your spikes and if they say anything during check-in at security tell them you are going to nationals and that you're a runner, they won't pull them out. I have flown many many times with my spikes in my carry on bag. Keep in mind you will want your liquids and such in a small container (shampoos, deodorants, toothpaste etc). They must be 3.4 ounces or smaller. Here is more info on liquids in a carry on bag: TSA Liquid Requirements

We will be doing light workouts this week on Monday and Wednesday. Drop mileage down 10% to 65-70%.

November 22nd - 27th - Thanksgiving

Well, we got in super late/early this morning but we made it back from a successful NXR trip. Thank you to all the parents who helped in any way and thank you to all of you kids for being great. We had a good trip and were able to come away with many PRs as well as a couple of trophies from our boys and girls teams. The boys were 2nd in the championship race and our girls team was 3rd in the large school division. It was a great day to end an amazing season. Thanks for making it a great trip. Results can be found here: 2021 NXR Southwest Results

For those who are done, which is most of you, take the next two weeks to just give your body and mind a break. Enjoy being a kid and don't even think about running. TAKE A BREAK! After a week if you are really dying, you can do some cross training but I don't want you running for 2 weeks. After that break, we will start back up slowly building our mileage, like we did in the summer. Just enjoy running and we'll meet back up together in January for indoor track. If you would like, you can do a turkey trot on Thursday but not fast and no running before that.... then it's back to your break.

If you are interested in going to the team XC banquet this year please fill out this form: 2021 Farmington XC Banquet Sign Up

November 15th-20th - NXR Southwest

NXR Southwest is upon us and we are ready to go. This is a very important blog post so please read all the information so you know what to anticipate this week for NXR. Bus will LEAVE at 6:00 AM Thursday morning and we will get home early Sunday Morning (3-4 AM?)

Before we get to that, thanks for those who came and cheered our team on at Pre-Nike at Barnes park. Results for that race can be found here: 2021 Pre-Nike @ Barnes Park Results
Also just as a heads up we are going to be doing our XC banquet on Wednesday December 8th at 6:00 PM at the school. Get that on your calendars and more info will be coming on that. If you have pictures from the 2021 XC season and you haven't put them in the XC Album yet, please go to this link and upload your photos. Thanks! 2021 Farmington XC Photo Album

NXR INFO
For NXR this week here is the itinerary so you know what to expect. You have all paid for transportation down and your hotel stay. Breakfast on Friday and Saturday will be at the hotel so you will need to bring additional money for lunch and dinner for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and any snacks or things you want to get while on the trip. Make sure you pack the essentials first (Uniform, Spikes etc) and then please bring some deodorant and clean clothes. We will be stopping for a run in St. George on the way down but won't shower after so pack a change of clothes and bring deodorant so we can finish up, eat lunch and get back on the road. We will also be leaving Arizona after the awards in the afternoon on Saturday and driving back getting home early Sunday morning so we will be checking out of the hotel on Saturday morning. Plan accordingly.

NXR Will also be broadcasting the event LIVE for FREE. Because there isn't a nationals this year they are ramping up the bells and whistles for Regionals so they are doing a cool coverage of the entire meet so families who aren't going down will be able to watch for free at this link: 2021 NXR Southwest Live Stream

Sunday, November 7, 2021

November 8th - 13th - Pre-Nike

Great job to everyone getting after it in workouts last week. This is the last full week of workouts and what not before we head down to Arizona. As a reminder, I need everyone to turn in a copy of their waiver signed to me by Wednesday so I can get those sent inNXR Participant Waiver You can then either hand it in to a coach at practice or scan it and email it over to coach Brower at cbrower@dsdmail.net

This week we do have a race opportunity for those that would like to go. After much confusion and run around it looks like the race will be on Wednesday the 10th at 4:00 PM and it will actually be at Barnes park in Kaysville. This will also not cost money as they don't have enough bibs for everyone so it will be pretty informal but sounds like will be a short race (less than 3 miles) and will be used as a tune up going in to NXR next week so we will plan on having that be our workout for the day on Wednesday. In the past they usually just have done the one race so both boys and girls will begin at 4. We won't have a bus going there so we will just meet everyone there. Please plan to get there no later than 3:15 PM.

Other exciting news is that MileSplit is going to be coming to our practice on Friday to film our workout and do a segment on our team and showcase our workout. So please make sure you wear Farmington gear on Friday for the video and come ready to throw down with really our last hard workout before next week.

Mileage this week, everyone except those going to Alabama will drop 10% from last week. This means everyone should be at 80% this week except those going to Alabama who will stay at 90%.

Weekly Practice Schedule:

Monday November 8th - 3:15 PM @ FHS

Tuesday November 9th - 3:15 PM @ FHS

Wednesday November 10th - Pre-Nike Race @ Barnes Park (Kaysville) - 4:00 PM start time for everyone. Meet at the Northeast corner of the park.

Thursday November 11th - 3:15 PM @ FHS

Friday November 12th - 3:15 PM @ FHS

Saturday November 13th - On your own - long recovery run to finish your weekly mileage (80%)

Mileage: Mileage this week, everyone except those going to Alabama will drop 10% from last week. This means everyone should be at 80% this week except those going to Alabama who will stay at 90%.

Morning Runs: For those needing extra mileage, Monday and Wednesday would be great days to get morning runs in and double.

November 1st-6th

What a great week we had. Both our girls and boys Varsity teams did amazing at State at the RAC in Rose Park. Our girls were 7th in 6A and in the meet merge with all schools in the state they were 10th. We had some great performances and we are so proud of our girls team in a very tough 6A classification. Our boys were able to not only win the 6A classification but were 1st in the meet merge with all schools. They were able to complete the 3-peat and we are very proud of them. Great work to all of our varsity kids. 2021 UHSAA State Championships Results

We also had a great showing at JV state on Saturday in Spanish Fork with some kids setting some 5k PRs and our girls were 3rd in 6A and our boys were 1st in 6A with Aaron Miller taking home the individual 6A JV State Title. Great job to everyone. Results can be found here: 2021 JV State Results

This week we are back on the work grind with some workouts coming as we have 3 weeks until NXR in Arizona. We need everyone to go on and pay for the trip ASAP. We can't get go on this trip until it is paid for and we need to take care of this NOW. Please go and pay the fees on your MyDSD. No meets this week but we will have Pre-Nike next week on TBD @Fort Beunaventura in Ogden. This will be a club race where we will not have a bus leaving the school to this meet and we will just meet everyone there at the park. Cost will be $2 so bring that with you to the park if you are interested in competing.

With only 2.5 weeks until we leave for NXR please be at practice as much as you can. We know things will come up but please make this a priority, we are not taking everyone down to have a vacation, it's an opportunity to race at a big championship meet and it is a great opportunity for our team.

In order for me to sign you up for NXR I need some more info from you and your parents. Please fill this form out ASAP so I can get your info in and get you signed up. Thanks! NXR Athlete Bio Registration Info

I also need everyone to print this form out and fill it out: NXR Participant Waiver You can then either hand it in to a coach at practice or scan it and email it over to coach Brower at cbrower@dsdmail.net

October 25th - 30th - STATE & JV STATE

We had a great training week this past week with some great quality workouts. We are now primed and ready to go for the State championships this Wednesday at the RAC in Rose Park for Varsity and Saturday in Spanish Fork for everyone else. Our girls and boys will race at 4:00 PM and 4:30 PM at the soccer complex and as it looks right now girls JV will be at 11:20 Saturday and boys at 12:00 PM. Wednesday's race will be at the Regional Athletic Complex (RAC) in Rose Park. Bus will leave FHS at 2:00 PM. I will excuse the team at 1:40 PM to get out to the bus. It will cost money to watch the race but I will pay for athletes on the team that ride the bus. If you don't ride the bus and drive on your own you will be expected to pay for a parking pass to get in to the event. If you are planning on riding the bus to state please fill this form out: 2021 STATE XC Bus

Tickets into the STATE championships will be based on the carload going into the park as you can't park anywhere else except for in the park. So if you have 1-2 people in the car it will cost $10. If you have 3 or more in a car it will be $20. If you are bringing an RV or other oversized vehicle it will cost $40 as it will take up more parking spots. Here is the link to buy your parking voucher: 2021 State XC Parking Voucher  You will need to purchase the voucher before hand by credit card, they will not have a cash option at the park. Please buy these in advance.

Saturday's race will be an on your own event. That means we won't have a bus going down so you would need to get your own ride down to Spanish Fork if you are interested in going. I will sign up whoever wants to race down there, if you haven't already done so, please sign up for the JV STATE Championships by Wednesday night at midnight here: 2021 JV State Registration I will post a course map once I get one but it will be at the Spanish Fork Sports Park - 295 Volunteer Dr, Spanish Fork, UT 84660

October 18th-23rd

Congrats to our boys and girls varsity teams as they both qualified for State on the 27th. The girls were third in their division race and 6th in the 6A meet merge. The boys won their division and were 1st on the 6A merge. Both our boys and girls cross country teams will compete at the 2021 UHSAA State Championships at the Regional Athletic Complex at Rose Park on the 27th at 4 PM and 4:30 PM. Results for the divisional race can be found here: 2021 6A Divisionals.

Another big thanks to the Hildreth's for hosting our team dinner last week and to the Bradshaws for helping. We don't have any races this week and no team dinners. More info to come on our next one.

This week we don't have a ton going on, mostly practice and gearing up for State with our varsity teams. We did get some good news on Friday and the trip has been approved by the parent survey, now we will send it off to the district for final approval and booking of the trip so more info to come but we are getting closer. We are 5 weeks away from NXR so please make sure we are taking care of ourselves and coming to practice. If we aren't able to take all 66 of you wanting to go, we may need to look into narrowing it down to 52 and if that's the case we may look at those coming to practice vs those who aren't and that may help make the decision on who goes and who doesn't so please come to practice.

We just found out about a new meet on October 30th. This will be the JV State Championships down in Spanish Fork. This is a new race that they are trying to put together and have as a race in the future every year. Anyone not competing at the UHSAA Varsity Championships on the 27th can attend. I need to get the team signed up if anyone wants to go. We will not be doing a bus down the Spanish fork but if you guys want to get yourselves down there to race, I will sign you up. Please fill out this form if you are interested in going to this race. 2021 JV State Registration Thanks! Here is a tentative schedule for that Saturday (30th):

October 11th - 16th - Divisionals (First Round of State)

What another great week to be a Phoenix. Our boys JV put in 9 of the top 10 in their race to win with 18 points. Our JV Girls were a super close 2nd place only 1 point behind Weber. Both our boys and girls varsity teams brought home the region trophy. Our boys finished 1,2,3,4,6 to score 16 points snapping Davis' 25+ year streak of winning region 1. Our girls came away with a 44-68 win over Davis and Layton. What a fun day for everyone. Great job and thanks for not only being great runners but more importantly, thanks for being great people.

This week we have Divisionals for our varsity teams on Tuesday. We are only ordering one bus for this one so only the varsity team will be heading down to this one, especially since it is during school. It's going to be snowing and raining the whole time anyway so it'll be a crazy day. When we go to state on the 27th, we will have 2 buses so we can take the whole team.

Huge thanks to the Austin's for helping host the team dinner last week. And thanks to the Browns and Muirbrooks for helping out with the region dinner last week. This week we are having the team dinner on Monday night at 6 at the Hildreth household. The Bradshaws and Martineaus will be helping. Everyone is still invited, even though not everyone will be racing. 745 S. Burlrush Rd. Farmington

For those planning on going to NXR please tell your parents to check their email and make sure to respond to the survey ASAP. Hopefully we can get the trip booked later this week once we get it approved and then we will know more details on the trip.

October 4th - 9th - Region Championships

We had another great week at the Davis District Championships. There were 6 total races with the FR/SO, JR/SR, and varsity races and Farmington brought home the win in all 6 of those. Congrats to everyone. It was a fun day. Results for the race can be found here: 2021 Davis District Championships

This week we have our Region 1 XC Championships back at Layton Park. This will be the last race of the UHSAA season for most of you so let's get after it. The course is also different than the one we did last week at District Championships. See the course map below for the exact course but essentially it will be similar to our Pre-region race, only it will be 3 laps and a 3 mile race.

We also have a team dinner this week at Britton and Trey Austin's home. The Waites and the Browns are also helping out. This is usually a fun dinner with it being the one right before region so come!! It will be at 6 PM and the captains will have some words of wisdom for everyone. Address is 2137 S 100E in Kaysville. Thanks to the Nelsons, Havens and Jacobsmeyers for their help at last week's team dinner.

With the NXR conversation, we have filled all the spots on the bus. If you are still wanting to go, still fill this form out so we have an exact count and then we can decide if we need to get another bus or van to go down or what we need to do: If you are interested in going to NXR, fill this form out: NXR 2021 Registration
