STATE CHAMPS!! (Oct 26th - 31st)

Congrats to both our boys and girls this past week at State. Both our boys and girls did better than they were projected. On the girl side, they were projected to take 7th and ended up finishing only 8.5 points away from a 2nd place trophy and 1 away from 3rd, finishing 4th. The boys were projected to take 3rd and ran extremely well as a group to upset the #1 ranked Timberwolves from Timpanogos and become back to back 5A state champions. We are so proud of everyone on our team this year from our top Varsity kids down to our JV team. Everyone on the team helped contribute to the success of both our boys and girls. Thank you for your hard work and dedication. You are the best of the best!!! 2020 State XC Meet Results

To clarify a few things that happened last week with Covid, here is the situation. The school is still on closure for this week and because our State competition is over we cannot practice as a group. We will also not be able to host the Hoka meet on Friday. We can resume practices once we come back from the soft closure. So until that happens, we will be posting workouts through the GroupMe chat so look for those workouts to come on Tuesday and Thursday. Monday, Wednesday and Friday will all be recovery days. You are welcome to run on your own or gather in small groups to do the runs and workouts.

This Saturday, Viewmont high is hosting a Trick or Trot 5k race to support Viewmont Cross Country. If you are able we would like you to race at this 5k as a way to get in a race before next Saturday in Spanish Fork. We will use the race this weekend to help make a decision on our varsity team for the qualifier on the 7th. You can sign up for the race via Runnercard here: 2020 Trick or Trot 5k

For those who haven't signed up for the Utah Qualifier on November 7th in Spanish Fork, please do so sooner than later as you risk the meet reaching full capacity and you won't be able to enter. You will need to register yourself and find your own ride down there. The address to the race is 295 Volunteer Drive Spanish Fork, Utah. Races start at 9:30 AM and go until 2:00 PM. More info on this race and the link to register can be found here: 2020 Border Wars - Utah Qualifier. After this race the top 15 teams in the varsity races will go on to represent Utah in the Border Wars against the top 15 Colorado schools in St. George on November 21st. This will be a varsity only race and there will not be any JV races so this Utah qualifier on the 7th is the last and only post season race for JV.

Mileage:

JV Stay the same as you did last week (should be 90%)

Varsity, increase by 10% from last week.

October 19th - 24th - STATE

Hopefully everyone had a fun and safe fall break weekend. This week on Thursday is the state championships at Soldier Hollow. They still haven't come out with exact numbers on tickets but from the word going around it sounds like every athlete who is racing, they will get 2 tickets to give to whoever. Those tickets will need to be purchased (for free) online through the UHSAA ticket portal. Again there is still no official word so tickets are not available yet but as soon as I get word I will let you know. Unfortunately it sounds like we will not be able to have any additional team members attend except for those competing and the alternates.

We are still planning on our team banquet November 5th at 6:00 PM at the high school commons. This will be for athletes only (sorry parents and family). So we can have a head count, if you are planning on attending that banquet will you please go and fill this form out? 2020 Farmington XC Banquet. Thank you. Also if you have any pictures from the season you have not yet put up on the photo album please do so here: Farmington XC 2020 Photo Album.

We finally have some specifics on post season races. First we are planning on hosting a Hoka Postal Nationals meet on Friday October 30th at FHS. We are throwing this together this week so more details to come but it will be at the FHS track. There will also be a Utah qualifier on November 7th down in Spanish Fork. This will be for anyone who would like to race.

October 12th - 17th (Fall Break)

Congrats to our varsity boys and girls teams this past week. Our girls placed 3rd in their divisional race and our boys took 2nd. This qualifies them both to the state meet coming up on the 22nd of October. The state meet will be held at soldier hollow. Ticket information is still TBA but I do know that spectators will still be allowed at the state meet but a ticket must be purchased through the state online ticket portal. I believe tickets will be free but I'm not sure if we as a team will get a certain amount or if it will be a first come first serve basis. I would follow UHSAA closely but I will try to notify you as soon as I hear more. Tickets are not currently available but will be sometime this week. We will only be taking one bus for the varsity teams so those that would like to attend will need to find their own ride down and back.

We will still plan on our awards banquet on November 5th for athletes ONLY due to the Covid-19 virus. Put that day on your calendars and also put November 7th and November 21st for possible days for post season races. There is talk now that the Utah State Qualifier will be in Pleasant Grove on the 7th and the Border Wars with Colorado will be in St. George on the 21st. Things have been back and forth and I'm hoping to know more this week but put those days on your calendar for potential post season races. These are totally optional and would not be school sponsored meaning you would need to find your own ride to and from. More info to come.

This week is Fall break and we will meet a few days so those that are in town can meet up with us. I will post the workouts in the GroupMe for those that will be out of town so if you aren't in the GroupMe let us know and we can get you added.

October 5th - 10th - Divisonals

Great job Farmington Phoenix at the region 5 cross country championships!! We had some amazing performances all around and it was a fun day to be a Phoenix. We swept all 4 races and saw some kids set some awesome PRs. WAY TO BE!! Here are the results: 2020 Region 5 XC Championships

We also want to give a BIG shout out to all of the parents who helped make our team dinner possible. The food was amazing and it went very smoothly. Thank you for being understanding of the year and for giving the team some of the fun parts of being on the XC team. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!

We still are unsure what the postseason of cross country will look like at this point. Some of you may have other sports you are doing and you are now able to go to those other things you have going on. Those that want to keep training, we would still welcome you to practice anytime you would like to come. In the event that we do have a post-season race it would be great to stay in shape for something like that. We won't take our break until the end of November so you are welcome to keep training if you would like but it is not required at this point to keep coming.

We are still planning on doing a team banquet this year, but due to Covid we will need to reduce the numbers attending. To keep numbers down we will just invite the athletes to attend the banquet. I apologize to all parents and families as I would love to have you be there but to keep our numbers down in attendance we will only be allowed to have the athletes join. We are planning on doing our banquet on Thursday November 5th, 2020 at 6:00 PM at the high school commons. More details to come as we get closer.

Weekly Practice Schedule:

Monday October 5th - 3:10 @ Forbush Park
