September 27th - October 2nd - Davis District Championships

Wonderful job to everyone at Border Wars on Friday. That is a tough 3 mile course and we had a great showing. Race results can be found here: 2021 Border Wars Results. This week we have the Davis District Championships at Layton park. This is a 2.75 mile course that is different than our Pre-region and region course. I will try to locate a map for you guys who haven't run this before but we'll explain it if I can't find one. This is a fun race back at Layton park and will help us improve our speed on the shorter course. Please make sure you are at practice every day this week and taking care of yourselves.

Thanks to the Reaveley family for hosting our team dinner last week. Also a thanks to the Stanger and Andersen families for their help. This week we have our team dinner on Tuesday at the Nelson residence (See address below) and the Haven and Jacobsmeyer families are helping as well. Thank you!

We are nearing the end of the high school season as we have one more week until region. For those who are interested in going to Nike Cross Regionals in November, you are welcome to continue to come to practice and train with us even after the high school season is over, which for many of you will be after Region next Tuesday. Once the high school season is over, which will be after state on October 27th, if you are interested in going to NXR you HAVE to be at practice. We will not take anyone to NXR who is not coming to practice. Going to NXR is not just a vacation we are going to race and we will only take those who are serious about going to compete. More info will come regarding NXR but to start thinking about it we would leave Thursday November 18th and get back really early Sunday morning the 21st. Cost will be somewhere around $200-$250. This is a ballpark estimate as we won't know until we get official hotel rooms and a bus booked.

September 20th - 25th - Border Wars

This past week we were able to preview the state course down in Rose Park at the Regional Athletic Complex. We saw some great performances despite some warmer weather and a long 5k distance. Great job to everyone. Our Jr/Sr Boys Won not only the Thursday afternoon session but also won in the combined results with all 4 sessions. Results can be found here: 2021 Pre-State Invite.

This week we get to go back to Sugar House Park (the site that hosted the state XC Championships every year until last year). The first 2 miles of the course this week is the exact same as the old state course. The last mile will be a little different as we will finish in the park still and not on the track. This will be a 3 mile race and it will be a great race as teams from Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado and all over Utah come together for ultimate bragging rights. This race will have more races than any other race we've been to. They will have each individual class races as well as a varsity and championship race. Please pay close attention to the schedule below to know when you race.

Thanks again to the Millers, Browns and Petersons for their help with the team dinner this past week. This week the team dinner will be Thursday night at 6:00 PM at the Reaveley residence (1169 S. Preakness Dr - Kaysville). The Stangers and Andersens will also be helping. THANK YOU!!!

September 13th - 18th Pre-State Invitational

We had another successful weekend at the BYU Autumn Classic Saturday. Of the 6 races we had we came home with 4 top 2 finishes on the team side which we will be receiving some plaques with our team pictures on them. It was a long 5K but we still saw lots of people getting PRs and running your hardest. Great job to everyone and let's keep it up as our season is flying by. This week we have the pre-state invitational on Thursday. This is an invite for everyone but it will be on the state course that the varsity team will compete on in the end of October. This will be a fun event and it will be held at the Regional Athletic Complex in Rose Park. For spectators it will cost $5 per individual to enter the park, or $15 for a carload with 5 people or less, and $25 for a car full of 6 or more people. Meet schedule is posted below.

This is a crucial time in the season to really take care of yourself. Stay organized with school so you can get plenty of sleep and not be up super late doing homework. Prioritize everything you have going on right now. Make sure you are icing, stretching, and rolling out anything that is tight or sore. It's the little things that will really make a big impact on how the remainder of your season shakes out.

Just as a reminder, if you have any pictures from any of our meets we have gone to, please upload them to this album: Farmington XC 2021 Photo Album

We also want to thank the Halverson, Waite and May families for their help with our team dinner last week. This week we will have our team dinner on Wednesday night at 6 PM at the Miller Residence (373 Oak Lane in Farmington). The Browns and Petersons will be helping out. Thanks so much!!

Weekly Mileage Chart: This week we will drop our mileage down 10% from last week so we should be at 90% of our max mileage again. If you are planning a max of 40 miles, you should hit 36 this week. The best way to get some more mileage this week is to have a longer run on Saturday and do a few doubles where you run at practice and in the morning. Wednesdays would be great days to get a morning run in.

September 6th-September 11th - BYU Invite

We had a great outing Friday at the 12th annual "Top of Utah" invitational at the Weber county fairgrounds. Of the 6 races, we won 4 of them respectively. Congrats to our boys and girls varsity teams on the overall team win. Great job to everyone and let's keep getting after it at practice. Results to the meet can be found here: 2021 TOU Invite

This week we have the BYU invite on Saturday. Just as a heads up to all the parents looking to go and watch, it will be $6 per spectator to enter. We will likely be back home Saturday around 1:45-2:00 PM would be my best guess. Meet info below.

Big thank you to the Wheelers for hosting our team dinner last week and a big thanks to the Gibbs and Stangers for also helping out with the team dinner. This week, we will do our team dinner on Friday at the school after practice at 4:30. Thanks to the Halversons, Mays, and Waites for their willingness to help out Friday.
