9/10 update

Phoenix,

We had a good week of workouts which will greatly help us take the next step in our racing and development. There is a form in this email that MUST be completed (by Monday at 3 PM) if you are going to race on Saturday. This race is super expensive, and I won't be entering kids who aren't planning to race (some races have a flat fee, so I enter basically everyone on the roster - that is not the case this week).

This week we asked the question, "do you know where we're going?" The idea behind it is to remind us what our goals are. Before we do anything we need to know our objectives. Reminding ourselves what we hope to accomplish helps us remain disciplined in the face of fatigue, waning motivation, or discouragement. That said, the outcomes don't determine the value of what we are doing.

Audrey put it very well when she said "we need YOU to be great as a team!" The value is in the relationships and the hard work. Both of those things will be invaluable as you go throughout your life. Pushing towards team and individual goals (outcomes) motivates us and makes the journey enjoyable, but by the end of the season the true value won't be the outcomes, but the steps we took as a team to get there. So, keep after it, your time is coming, and we're all in this together, from first to last.

This week

The meet this week is at Sugar House Park. Please be aware that parking in the park is pretty rough, and not recommended. I believe parking is available at Highland High, but I'm not 100% sure (and the meet website is crashed as of this writing so I can't check at the moment). You can view the meet schedule/order of events here

With homecoming, try to arrange these so called "day-dates" to not interfere with practices. I know you are trying to balance a lot of schedules, but practice is the only time we have to work together as a team to get to where we want to go. We are genuinely limited in how many quality days we have left in the season, so plan accordingly. I mean I'm going through what workouts we want to do for the next few weeks, and I'm having to cut out about 1/3 of them because we are just out of time to get everything in.

Because Saturday is homecoming, we recognize that some of you will need to have a parent/guardian take you home, or get yourself to the meet. For this meet you are allowed to arrange your own transportation to and from the meet. We are deciding on how many buses will be needed, so I need you to let me know your bussing plans in the form below (the same one used to say if you'll be racing or not).

Meet registration closes super early for this one, therefore I need to know if you're racing even before then. The following form must be filled out PRIOR to 3 PM on Monday 9/11 (practice is at 3:15), or you will not be entered in the meet. This form will email you a confirmation when you've successfully filled it out.

Form for Border Wars - Entries and Busing. Must be completed by Monday 9/11 at 3 PM

Team Dinner

The Cresaps will be hosting a team dinner on Friday at 6 PM, prior to the football game. The address will be posted in the team group me.

Training

Our mileage begins to go down, for most of our high mileage folks, but stays up for some of you on the lower end of volume (simply because you approach 100% so much more quickly, especially with a few faster days sprinkled in there).

If you have any questions please let me know.
