2/23 Update - Outdoor Track

Phoenix,

The outdoor season is officially upon us! I am sending out some information regarding the season so we can all be on the same page and ready to roll.

We have an awesome team this year, one that is filled with kids who are willing to work hard and want to be the best version of themselves. We have amazing coaches with each event who truly care about the team and individual successes. I cannot speaker more highly of each of them, and I hope you know how fortunate you are to have such great people to coach you this year.

The three tenets of our team this year are:

  1. Team-first mentality
    • Athletes work for the betterment of the team, in each of the events that the coaches feel they will help the team
  2. Positivity
    • Positivity increases performance in a number of ways, but more than that, it makes each practice and meet enjoyable. Complaints or negativity simply weigh everyone down, so we ask everyone to make an effort to bring a positive attitude, which will help those around you feel more positive as well.
  3. Consistency
    • Without training, practicing, or racing consistently, gains cannot be made. Even the first two items are rendered moot if we do not show up consistently.
The above items work harmoniously to make our team, the experience, and each athlete better. These principles will be woven into everything we do for years to come. It is up to each of us to make these a top priority, and an explicit part of our team culture.

Practice Plans

We will be practicing every day from here on out. Attendance will be taken at the beginning of practice each day by scanning in, so come prepared with your ID to scan in.

On A days we will meet in the southwest bleachers at 2:35. On B days we will meet there at 1:15.

Practices will end at various times depending on the training, but will never end at 2:20. Plan on 2 hours for practice each day, sometimes shorter.

Track class

For those not in the track class, you'll be at a disadvantage. You are strongly encouraged to be in the track class. The disadvantage is not being able to train with us each day. For many meets, we are limited on entries, so all things being equal, those in the class will be entered into meets prior to those not in the class, with some exceptions.

We will not be able to practice after 3ish on B days, so there isn't an after school option. Those not in the class will need to train on their own outside of the track.

On Wednesday at 2:35 we will meet as a full team, then meet with those not in the 8th period class, specifically, to make sure you have our athlete contract and know what to expect.

To Do

If you haven't yet, please view our schedule

Finally, make sure you have completed registration prior to our first meet or you will not be able to compete.

If you need a physical, on Thursday 2/26 from 5:30-6 PM in the weight room, athletes can pay $25 to get a physical. Make sure you download the form from the registration page above, and have your parts filled out before arriving.
