Farmington Super meet
This week we will be hosting our first meet of the season, which is an invitational. Because it is a smaller meet, we can enter our entire team, so all are able to compete.
The girls will be competing on Thursday and the boys will be managing the meet and making sure it runs smoothly. On Friday the boys will compete and the girls will work the meet. More on that below.
You can find the order of events/estimated time schedule here.
Because of the condition of the fields/shot put sector, we might be moving the throwing events to Davis. If that is the case those assigned to help in those areas would be moved to a different job, and those competing would need to help in various ways over there to make sure it goes smoothly.
Meet hosting standards
Our goal in hosting meets is to give those competing the best possible experience. I chose to host the Super Meet so that our entire team can have a chance to compete against quality competition early in he season, while learning how to host an efficient meet. Our program will also make some money on the meet which will allow us to purchase equipment (like replacing hurdles or adding poles for the vault) that we otherwise could not afford.
Part of the duties of being on the track team is helping at the meets we are hosting. Everyone who is in the class and who is on the team is expected to help, and to stay the entire time. Not helping/staying for the whole meet may result in you not being entered in the next meet. For those in the class, your grade is largely dependent on helping at the meet (each meet makes up about 10% of the grade). At the conclusion of the meet everyone will scan out.
Each person will be given a job with an assignment. Those jobs will go until everything is done at the meet. Once we are all done together, we will dismiss and go home.
I'm not motivated for the clean up and such to take forever, quite the contrary, I too want to go home and see my family. So let's all work together and get it done as quickly and efficiently as possible.
