10/14 update

Phoenix,

We are headed to divisionals tomorrow. The location and times have been shared in the group me.

The bus will leave at 1 PM, and the return time is tbd. It depends on if the bus is waiting for us or returning to take kids home from school, then coming back for us. We won't know until we are headed down there. So, please plan accordingly with homework, food, games, etc. Someone please bring spikeball.

Our objectives tomorrow are quite simple. For those not racing, our entire goal is to get the girls' team qualified for state. That means all your energy should be expended in support of those racing. The boys should qualify barring something crazy happening, so we aren't too worried about it, but they are still wanting to have a good strong race to set themselves up for state, so any energy restored after the conclusion of the girls race should then be spent in support of the boys.

This week

I'm not sending out a mileage chart for this week, due to fall break. I am going to send a workout out for Thursday or Friday, and Saturday should be a typically longer run. Those going to state will probably be at about 80% for the week. Non state goers will likely get to about 90%. Anyone not racing should do the morning run tomorrow in the class.

NXR

Athletes going to NXR need to join the groupme for that trip here: https://groupme.com/join_group/103983954/MLORHfL1

Parents are also encouraged to join that group so you don't miss any important announcements, and so you can follow along with us during the trip.

Looking forward to a great week.

10/6 update

Phoenix,

The region championships are finally here. We've been anxiously waiting for this race, essentially since last year. We know what is at stake, and what it will take from each of us.

For most of our team, this is the final race until NXR. For the varsity runners, they have divisionals next week and State two weeks after that. For everyone, this is a chance to show how our fitness has improved over the past two months, and it's going to be awesome. The time to press is past, and the time to let our fitness show off is upon us.

For our boys, they have a legitimate shot at winning this meet, but it will be tightly contested. It will take everyone, the racers and the supporters to be along the course cheering them on to make it happen. The closest competition at the moment is Davis, but Layton beat us when we weren't at full strength a few weeks ago, so no one can be overlooked.

Region at Layton Commons

JV Girls - 4:30 PM
JV Boys - 5:00 PM
Varsity Girls - 5:30 PM
Varsity Boys - 6:00 PM

We also need a few volunteers to help at the finish line, so if any parents can lend themselves there just to help maintain order and get the kids moving out of the finishing area, that'd be great.

There won't be a bus to region, and we'd like everyone there by 3:30 PM. Please note that region 5 will still be racing at that time, so be sure not to interfere with the runners.

Next Week

Next week on Tuesday is divisionals. That is the race where our teams will qualify for state. The girls will have their work cut out for them, but we know what we need to do.

That race is at Lakeside Park in Orem. Our bus leaves at 1 PM. We only have 1 bus, and we'd like to fill it up completely, so even though most of you are not competing, we still want you to come support.
