4th July Week - Moratorium

Hey guys, we had another great week of training this past week with an awesome time trial. The times from the time trial are posted in the NERD REPORT which you can find on the left side of the blog home page. Make sure you go to the correct year but you should be able to see your times as well as previous years times if you have been running with us the past two years.

This week it is the 4th of July and we typically have a week long moratorium where we can't practice at all but we are able to hold practice on Monday so we will have it tomorrow but the rest of the week we won't be able to have practice so you'll need to make sure you get some runs in. You can meet up with others on the team if you want. Please just make sure you log your miles on Strava. This is a big week and we don't want to undo anything we have done up to this point so pack those shoes wherever you are going for the week and log some miles.

Have a HAPPY and SAFE 4th of July!!

Here is the plan for the week:

Monday June 29th - 7 AM Girls @ Farmington Park (Behind the Rec center on 650 West)
7:30 AM Boys @ Farmington Park (Behind the Rec center on 650 West)

Tuesday - Saturday - Moratorium, no practice. Run on your own.

Summer cross country is upon us! We have been waiting to meet back up and we are finally able to. We are so excited for the team we have this upcoming year. We are going to be very competitive on both the boys and girls side and we're really looking forward to seeing everyone improve their times this season. Each Sunday night this blog will be updated on the weekly practice schedule including locations and times. Summer XC 2020

Hey Farmington!!

What a wacky last few months we have had. First off, we want to say we are so sorry this past track season went the way it did. We feel for each of you and are so impressed with all of your abilities to  stick with it and train on your own. You are truly an inspiration to all of us coaches.

Moving forward here is the latest info for Summer XC:

  • XC parent meeting will be held Thursday, May 28th, 2020 @ 6:00 PM - Virtual Meeting - Zoom Call
  • We just got the green light to hold practice with numbers under 50 starting in June - This means we will start practices June 8th. Check back here to the blog for info on exact time and location. We will likely start meeting 3 times a week to begin.
  • Tentatively we have our (optional) cross country camp scheduled for July 27-29th. We are still waiting for official approval to proceed with this but throw that on the calendar as a tentative date for our camp.
  • August 8th is our Phoenix 5k. Put that on your calendars!!

March 16th - March 30th - 2 Week Corona Virus Moratorium

Hey team. What a week. We had a great first meet and saw some great performances. This year is already off to a better start than last year. I wanted to thank everyone for their help in running the meet Thursday. It definitely takes a lot of hands to make it run smoothly and I think we did just that so THANK YOU!!

RESULTS from our first tri meet Thursday.

Obviously this was also a very unique week with everything that happened with the Corona Virus. Due to the events we are not allowed to participate in any meets or hold practice. I am not sure where the rest of the season sits but as of now this is a 2 week moratorium so we should hopefully be able to get back on track the first week of April. I will update the blog as more info comes out. For the time being all of the workouts will be posted on train heroic. Make sure you look there for your workouts for your specific event groups.

If you don't have train heroic yet, please download it on a smart device and create an account. The access codes are as follows: "phoenixdistance", "phoenixthrows", and "phoenix7" for sprinters.

Do your best to get these workouts in and stay in shape during this two week moratorium. Also do your best to stay healthy. As far as school goes, it will be open to students from 8:30 AM to 12:30 AM for breakfast and lunch (in a grab and go manner) and small group tutoring from teachers to answer questions as needed. This will not be a place to just go and "hang out" with friends. Social distancing is what we are going for.

Our track gear from the online team store will get here Friday. We will plan on doing a quick grab and go on Monday and Tuesday of next week from 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM in Coach Brower's Office.

Thanks for your patience with all of this. Hopefully we can get this out of the way and get back on with our season.

Thanks, and GO PHOENIX!
