3/22 update

Phoenix,

We had so many good things happen at the Super Meet this past week! We had multiple state qualifiers, as individuals and as relay teams. We had a bunch of PRs, not just from this season but over the years, and we ran a very smooth meet, so that athletes knew when they were going to be competing, allowing for some great performances.

Thank you all very much for your help at our first two meets, athletes and parents included. It's a bit sad to think that we only have 3 days of hosting left, but fortunately, we still have a little under 2 months of the season to go.

Let's use our time as wisely as possible leading up to spring break. Show up for yourself and show up for your team every day.

This week

We are headed to Syracuse tomorrow and Wednesday for the District Championships. We are limited on the number of entries we have for each event, but we will enter as many of you as possible.

No matter what events you are or aren't in, we want each of you to attend the meet both days, for the duration, riding the bus there and back. If you opt to go home with a parent, it should be AFTER the conclusion of the meet, so that our whole team is there to support. This is a TEAM sport at FHS, not an individual affair, so show up for your teammates, and stay for your teammates.

Entries for this meet will be finalized tonight, so check sporttrax for those.

Athletic fees

If you have not paid your fees yet, please do so as soon as you can so that we can get the apparel items ordered.

Team store

The store is going to close tonight, if you want to order anything other than what will already be issued to the athletes. My Team Shop

3/15 update

Phoenix,

Our first meet is in the books and there were a lot of good things that happened, and many more things to build on.

Our coaches were very proud of the effort and willingness to compete in the assigned events. That type of mentality will help us on our return to excellence. Let's continue with that effort, attitude, and team mindset every single day.

We also appreciate your help managing the meet. Your help will be called upon for 5 more days of track meets, including two this week. Here is some information regarding this week.

Super Meet

This week we are hosting the Super Meet, which will see nearly 20 schools join us. We can enter all who are eligible and have been attending practice into the meet, but for some of the JV level athletes, you may see only one event. The same is being asked of other teams - for the sake of time.

On Wednesday the girls will be competing and the boys will be "working" the meet. Each of you will have a job. On Thursday, the roles switch, but, because we have so few girls on the team, many boys will be asked to help where needed, so please pay attention to the job list.

This meet, being so large, will go later than last week's meet, so plan accordingly.

For those who were not eligible, you need to clear all those U's before you will be allowed to compete, or finish registration.

Practices

Practices are every day - they are not optional. Athletes missing practices without having cleared it are at risk of not being entered into the meets. We are working to change our culture to be more team oriented, so make sure you are doing what you can to elevate our team by being present/consistent, bringing a positive attitude, and working hard.

Team Store

If you would like to order gear/apparel for our team, a team store is available here: My Team Shop. There are some good items on there, so we encourage you to check it out before it closes this week.

Should you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out.

3/1 Update

Phoenix,

Our first official week of the season is down, and if it's any indication of how quickly the season will go, then we are basically done already.

When you start looking at our schedule, you realize that we are nearly to spring break. After spring break, we are nearly to region. Once it's region and state, the season is about done.

The point is, there is no time to waste. Capitalize on every day. Attend practice every day. Be prepared to sacrifice for the good of the team, and bring a positive attitude.

I for one have had a blast during the first week. After practice people keep asking me, what are you on? (The answer to that is nothing but water and yerba mate baby) but because I just had a lot of fun working with you guys, I may be more prone to bust out the slickback that Tom taught me (not Addy, DEFINITELY not Hogge (pronounced Hoe-g, not Hoagie, but I say Hoagie because it's tuff).

Anyway, let's enjoy every day, because there aren't enough days remaining of the season to squander any.

This week

We are officially moving our 400s and a Field Day from today, Monday, to Wednesday, on account of the field conditions. We will practice as usual every day this week, with Wednesday being our time trial/field trial day.

Next Week

We will be hosting our first next Wednesday, 3/11, with Layton and Weber. Each athlete will have a job. All meets that we host, athletes are expected to come out at the designated time (this meet, 1:45) to scan in, compete, and complete their jobs. We will then scan out at the end of the meet. Everyone stays the entire meet to help with clean up, with exceptions only for those who have a school thing (like a play or concert they are in). Otherwise, everyone is there the entire time. As my old man likes to say, "many hands make light work."

Prepare yourselves for that, everyone stays the entire time. And in the case of next week, EVERYONE RUNS THE 4X400. We're going to have like 25 teams for that relay and it's going to be soooo sick.

Registration

You will not be able to compete in that meet unless you have completed registration on register my athlete (and if you don't know what that is yet, scroll down on this website and check it out, because I haven't the heart to explain it even on more time.

Uniforms

If you don't have a uniform yet, we'll hand those out on Tuesday or Thursday this week at the beginning of practice.

Fundraiser

Coach Halls is spearheading a fundraiser for our team. Please view the below information, and share this website with business, neighbors, whomever, so that we can have the funds for all of our many expenses.
